The Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival announces its 21st edition! CRIFF will celebrate the work of filmmakers from across the state, throughout the country, and around the world, all with connections to Iowa.
We celebrate diverse, interesting films and filmmakers who have Iowa Connections. That could be a crew or cast member who lived, worked or went to school in Iowa; a film that was produced, at least in part, in Iowa; or a story featuring an Iowa subject or Iowan (present or former, real or fictional). We focus on these with the goal of building new and strengthening existing connections. More importantly, we want to help filmmakers - especially those just starting out - find those connections that will help them grow as artists, storytellers and contributors to the cultural landscape of Iowa and the world. We place special emphasis on student filmmakers; and in 2023 we debuted Student Cinema Sunday, screening only student work at a greatly reduced ticket price for students. For 2024 we have several new experiences in the works, and will be announcing our great slate of films February 14th.
