Here are some of the top beaches in the area to make your summer memorable.

Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area, 4530 McClintock Road, Palo, IA
Located near Palo, this expansive park features a beautiful 410-acre lake with a designated swimming beach that’s perfect for families. The sandy shore and clear waters provide an ideal setting for a day of swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. With amenities like restrooms, picnic shelters, and playgrounds, Pleasant Creek ensures a comfortable and fun experience for everyone.

While Wanatee Creek Park is more known for its hiking trails and nature center, it also offers a charming swimming area along the Cedar River. Palisades-Kepler State Park is a beautiful outdoor destination on the banks of the Cedar River outside Cedar Rapids. Dramatic river bluffs, deep ravines, majestic hardwood trees and an abundance of wildlife characterize the area, and Native American Indian mounds mark the early history of the park. The serene beach is perfect for a peaceful stroll, but while is swimming is allowed, it is highly discouraged due to the strong current of the Cedar River. Please use extreme caution before wading into the water.
