Special Venue Notes

  • Tickets will be sold by session. Online pre-purchase is strongly encouraged prior to arriving at the venue to avoid long lines.
  • Spectators are asked to arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the posted start time of the match they plan to attend. Spectators should follow the traffic pattern and queue system established by Alliant Energy PowerHouse when entering and departing the arena. Spectators will be directed to their assigned seating section upon arrival to the arena.
  • Spectators are encouraged to purchase tickets online to limit lines at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse box office. Tickets can be purchased through http://ticketmaster.com/ or charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 for $12 inclusive of all online fees. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, October 27 at 10 a.m. Admission will be charged for those kindergarten age and older. Tickets purchased in-person at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse box office are $10.
  • Spectators may bring clear bags smaller than 12x12x6 into the Alliant Energy PowerHouse. Non-clear bags will not be permitted. This allows the Alliant Energy PowerHouse staff to check bags without touching your belongings and reduces cross-contamination between patrons.

Students sitting in designated student sections are required to wear face coverings at all times, even when seated, as they will NOT be subject to the same social distancing requirements as other spectators.
  • Spectators in non-student sections will be directed to social distance at least 6’ in between different families and groups.
  • To maintain safe and socially distanced public spaces, fans will NOT be allowed to greet their teams in the Main Lobby/Ticket Window area or in the SW corner of the Alliant Energy PowerHouse following matches as they have done previously. Team/fan gatherings must occur offsite.

Economic Impact

The Iowa Girls State High School Volleyball Tournament brings in 40 teams from across the state of Iowa for four days of competition. In addition to the nearly 26,000 spectators that the tournament typically attracts, the teams themselves contribute an average of 500 room nights for area hotels. The combination of food, gas, entertainment, and other purchases made during the week, the tournament continues to be responsible for a huge boost to the Cedar Rapids economy each year.

With an annual economic impact of $1.9 million in recent years, the Cedar Rapids Tourism Office estimates the tournament has generated more than $48.5 million dollars in revenue for many of the city’s restaurants, hotels and local businesses since it first came to Cedar Rapids in 1991.
