CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The Cedar Rapids Tourism Office is excited to welcome the Iowa Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference to Cedar Rapids March 26th-28th. More than 800 Iowa youth from across the state will spend 3-days in the City of Cedar Rapids expanding their leadership potential and developing necessary skills for life in the home and workspace such as planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communication.
“When Iowa FCCLA was looking for a new host location, the Iowa FCCLA Board of Directors had two main factors for consideration. They desired a location that had ample room for growth, as well as a supportive community that would bring business and industry to connect with students. Cedar Rapids gave us both and so much more. We're excited to elevate our event in the community and showcase our students to potential employers,” says Sherry Vogel, Interim Executive Director, of Iowa FCCLA.
This is the first year the state-wide Leadership Conference has been held in Cedar Rapids. Iowa FCCLA and National FCCLA offer conferences over the entire year, engaging students in leadership experiences, professional networking, skill development and career exploration. At the State Leadership Conference, members participate in STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition), attend sessions and network with other youth leaders.
“The City of Cedar Rapids is excited to support the work of FCCLA while introducing our community to a whole new generation,” says Julie Stow, Associate Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Tourism Office.
