Riverside Skate Park
Overview
The new skatepark at Riverside Park, 1501 A Street SW, officially opened August 26, 2023. It replaced the previous skatepark, installed in 1999, to make room for a detention basin that is part of the flood control system. The new skatepark provides more efficient use of space and better flow, with concrete obstacles that meet optimal industry standards. Obstacles include a quarterpipe, radius wedge, euro gap, kicker, radius launch, stairs, flat grind rail, raked grind rails, cantilevered manual pad, grind out ledge, raked panned grind ledge, double raked panned grind ledge, panned grind ledge, panned grind out ledges, and slappy curb.
The skatepark opens at 6 a.m. and also includes lights for skating until 10 p.m., a drinking fountain, and a reconstructed parking lot with accessible parking spaces. A new playground was installed next to the skatepark as well.
