African American Museum of Iowa
Overview
The African American Museum of Iowa is located in the New Bohemia Cultural District of Cedar Rapids, IA. It houses two exhibits, a beautiful rental hall, and the Nikee Museum Gift Shop.
Did you know that Iowa desegregated its public schools in 1868? Or that Iowans participated in sit-ins years before the Civil Rights Movement? Come learn about these events and the rich heritage of African Americans in Iowa in our permanent exhibit "Endless Possibilities."
