Cedar Rapids is a sports loving town. With minor league baseball, soccer, hockey, arena football teams and even a women's roller derby team, sports are always in season in Cedar Rapids.
Baseball
They aren’t joking when they say there’s a "party at the park." Not only do the Cedar Rapids Kernels play games all summer long, but there’s also plenty to keep the family entertained, from face painting and slushies, to fireworks shows after Saturday night games and a chance to run the bases on Sundays. Plus, there’s a couple of old army tanks parked out in front of the Veteran's Memorial Stadium that your kids are sure to want to climb on.
Hockey
More cowbell! If your family likes to get loud, then head to a Cedar Rapids RoughRiders game at the Cedar Rapids ice arena, affectionately referred to as "the Stable."
Football
Or, if you really want to get close to the action, pick up tickets to see the Cedar Rapids River Kings play football at the U.S. Cellular Center. The games are fast-paced and sometimes up-close-and-personal if you grab seats in the lower level. Sit in the kick zone so the kids can try to catch footballs after field goal attempts.
Roller Derby
If you feel like getting in on a different kind of sporting action, check out the Cedar Rapids Rollergirls for action-packed bouts of hard-hitting derby. It's a fast-paced game with a team full of tough ladies that aren't afraid of a bruise or two (or ten).
Other options include sand volleyball leagues, curling, ice skating, and bowling, even cricket in Seminole Valley Park on summer weekends.
